教宗退位　馬英九「不捨、尊重、感謝」

天主教教宗本篤16世，昨天宣布將在2月底退位，總統府發言人范姜泰基今天晚間說，總統馬英九對教宗辭職表示雖不捨但尊重，並感謝教宗貢獻。
 
范姜泰基說，馬總統表示，本篤16世就任教宗近8年，以自身為表率向世人展現了慈悲、謙遜、勇敢等美德，並極力促進世界和平、人道救援、互助互愛等普世價值，為世人所尊崇。這些價值，也是中華民國政府與人民長期以來，高度認同並努力實踐的政策目標。
 
范姜泰基說，馬總統表示，對教宗基於個人健康原因所作的決定，雖不捨但高度尊重，並代表中華民國人民對教宗無可取代的貢獻表示感謝。
 
范姜泰基說，馬總統表示，本篤16世對穩固中華民國與教廷的邦誼有卓著貢獻，中華民國和教廷的未來，將在教宗所極力維護的雙邊關係中，持續穩健發展。
