〔大陸新聞中心／綜合報導〕幾乎所有談到娼妓起源的論著都會首先提起古代巴比倫的聖娼。這方面留下的史料，主要是希羅多德在《歷史》中的一段記述：巴比倫人有一個最醜惡可恥的習慣，這就是生在那裡的每一個婦女在她的一生之中必須有一次到阿普洛狄鐵(Aphrodite，希臘神話中的愛神，希羅多德這裡的意思是指巴比倫神話中的愛神Mylitta)的神殿的聖域內去坐在那裡，並在那裡和一個不相識的男子交媾。
