〔大陸新聞中心／綜合報導〕面具舞相傳起源於17世紀南部非洲班圖人的一個部族。最初人們戴上用獸皮或鳥類羽毛做成的面具，在葬禮或宗教儀式上表演，以這種形式與祖先或亡靈「通靈」。後來面具的種類和樣式更加豐富，這種舞蹈也從單純的宗教舞演變為民俗舞，在尚比亞、馬拉威、莫三比克和辛巴威的一些部族中流行至今。
