〔大陸新聞中心／綜合報導〕在阿拉斯加州西北部的北冰洋淺水海域，約1萬隻海象因為洋面上的冰塊消失，而成群結隊爬上岸。美國國家海洋暨大氣管理局(NOAA)的圖片顯示，大批海象「堆積」在Point Lay附近一座島嶼的海灘上，景象壯觀。NOAA說，海象是9月中旬開始上岸的，9月12日發現海岸有2000到4000頭海象。管理海象的聯邦漁獵暨野生動物管理局迅速採取措施，以防海灘上密密麻麻的海象相互踐踏。他們與當地村民合作，防止人員和飛機接近海象。
