【於慶中／綜合外電報導】義大利「水都」威尼斯，以都市內充滿交錯縱橫的水道聞名於世，但每年秋冬進入雨季後，只要碰到漲潮加上適當的風向，就會在市區淹大水，讓民眾十分困擾。

義大利政府2003年起就編列了超過70億美元(約台幣2100億元)的預算，要替威尼斯建造加強的防洪大閘，當地時間周六(12日)第一次正式測試，只見4到大型黃色防洪閘從海中升起，形成一道臨時的水壩，測試十分成功，當局表示將加快腳步建置剩餘的70多座，整個工程預計在2016年可以完工。
