〔記者陳心雅／新竹報導〕聖稜線係指連結雪山山脈雪山主峰與大霸尖山的稜脈，是雪霸國家公園區內最著名的縱走路線，近年來申請攀登的遊客每年約有3,000人次。雪霸處為服務登山遊客，成立後陸續於沿線素密達及雪北山區興建避難山屋。
