根據內政部公布的最新統計數據，到101年底，0到14歲的幼年人口共有341萬1677人，占總人口的14.63%，我國扶幼比為19.7%，持續呈現下降趨勢，近10年間，平均每年下降0.9個百分點，又因扶幼比降幅較大，像是99年底的扶幼比為21.3%，因此，老年人口雖增加，使得老人、幼童等依賴人口對工作年齡人口的扶養比，續降至34.7%。
