〔記者林重鎣／台中報導〕陳姓男子認為颱風天作案最易得手，29日晚上9時許，到太平區太興路上某建築工地竊取電線。得手後帶至附近祥順運動公園廁所內取電線內銅條，但太平警方巡邏，發現颱風夜公園廁所外有機車，很可疑，警方用心查看，當場查獲陳嫌及所竊取之電線，經警訊問後30日依竊盜罪移送偵辦。
