〔記者賴淑禎／台中報導〕「臺中城市文化館」進行國際競圖，也創下我國舉辦國際競圖參賽人數最高的一次，歷經兩階段激烈競爭，贏得「臺中城市文化館」設計首獎的是由來自日本的SANAA / Kazuyo Sejima 妹島和世（普立茲建築獎得主)服務團隊獲得。執行「臺中城市文化館」國際競圖工作的市府建設局在決選結果發布後，將跟首獎建築團隊簽約，緊接著建築團隊將展開細部的建築設計工作；未來工程的品質監督將與首獎團隊密切配合，使這座代表臺中文化標的建築也同時是代表臺中建築品質的標的。
